Our Trailer Service

Having your trailer serviced is just as important as having your car serviced, it’s worth remembering that you can get points on your licence for towing a trailer that isn’t road worthy. We recommend having your trailer serviced yearly to keep it in good running condition and avoid costly repairs later down the line.

We go beyond just a visual inspection. When we service a trailer we always strip the parts down to inspect them. We then thoroughly grease and oil where required. If the trailer requires additional parts we will always contact our customers first before we carry out any work.

Our trailer service includes an extensive check list keeping your trailer safe and functional.

Hubs

Check for scores, cracks, heat defects, ensure bearing housing is intact.

Floor

We make sure it can support the weight it’s carrying. As well as check for cracks or rot that can degrade its strength.

Sub Axles

Check there are no cracks or excessive wear.

Tyres

We check for any defects such as cracks, bulges, tread depths and age.

Rims

Check for rot, dints, twists. We also check they are correctly balanced.

Back Plates

These hold the brakes in place. We check their condition as they can corrode over time.

ID Plate

To check it matches with the trailer.

Wheel Nuts

We check these are tight so the wheels are safely attached.

Suspension

We check they are not loose and for any excessive wear.

Chassis

The chassis is the main structure of the trailer and everything is built off of it. We check for cracks, twists and bends.

Lights

We check all the lighting on your trailer to ensure they function correctly. This is an important legal requirement.

Horse Trailer Panels and Ramps

Checked for deterioration, rotting and soft spots.

“Can highly recommend Unthank Trailer Services! Sorted the brakes on my trailer for me along with a few other bits they found when checking it out.”

“ I was ready to sell the trailer as I was frustrated that it took me about 30 minutes to get the trailer to move every time I wanted to use it, but after Unthank Trailer Services had sorted it out I can now leave it for weeks and just hitch up and go with no problem.”
