The most common causes of panel rot include:

Once the rot sets in, it spreads internally — and by the time you see or feel the damage, it’s too late the panel will need replacing.

Soft or spongy feel when stepped on or pressed
Dark, stained, or bubbled panel surfaces
Mouldy or musty smell
Crumbling wood when probed with a tool
Ramp flexing under weight, or weakened hinges
